From the Principal's Desk
This week at DHS reminded me of the true spirit of the high school experience. Often, as we should, the focus is mostly on what happens inside the classroom. This week, however, I noticed how students were acting after the 2:03 bell. I noticed the baseball team in the cages with teammates cheering each other on, the lacrosse team playing cohesively so early on, the orchestra at the Z where the music and photo slideshows showed the fun bond between the students, and even at the DEF Spelling Bee we saw students who stayed long after they were out of the competition just to cheer on their friends and teachers.
In all these different spaces, were students truly enjoying their high school journey because they had found their "team." Large or small they had their community within DHS. My hope for every student at DHS is that you find your "team." To the staff and families who allow these connections to bond (even if that means late pick up or early drop offs) thank you. And to the students: continue to make waves, support one another, and lean into the communities you are building here.
